Dorothy Thompson (nicknamed Dott) the wife of Alf Thompson and co-owner and farmer owning and residing at Thompson Ground.

Biography

Dorothy "Dott" Thompson is married to Alf Thompson. She is 49 years of age, and has an only child named Bill. The family live on Thompson Ground and manage it together.

Personality

Just like Alf, she is also small and quick moving in word and deed. She looks frail but is really very strong, and copes easily with a women’s large share of the work.

Job

Dorothy along with her husband is the farmer of Thompson Ground. She keeps, on her account, hens, ducks, cattle and a few geese, but she is also well known for her homemade food products like cakes and jam.

Attire

She is mostly seen donning a pink dress, white apron and a headscarf.

  • Dorothy was based on John Cunliffe's wife's mother.[1]
  • Dorothy's headscarf from Woodland Animations was used for the title character "Gran" in several episodes.
  • Dorothy's woolly cardigan from Woodland Animations was also used for Flo in the "Bertha" episode "The Big Sneeze".
