George holding Pat's puppet
George Laban is an English animator. He has worked on shows like "Rubbadubbers", "Postman Pat", the fourth series of "Fireman Sam" and "Bob the Builder".
Derek Mogford had worked on series 1 (1981) and the special episodes but left Woodland Animations prior to the second series airing in 1996.
Just after finishing his work at Bumper Films, George sent his CV out to loads of people and got a phone call from Ivor Wood asking "Have you ever heard of Postman Pat?". Funnily he got two offers at the same time, one for Molly's Gang based in Clerkenwell Studios, so he went for interviews for both on the same day. He got both jobs but took the chance to work for Ivor.[1]
In December 1994, five days before Christmas, George received a letter of employment from Ivor Wood at his home in Lydbrook, Gloucestershire, asking him to work as an animator on Postman Pat series 2. Because of this, George took this wonderful opportunity and did the animation work for the whole of series 2.[2]
He was there for 18 months/2 years and after finished at Woodland Animations in the June, he went over to HOT Animation that was just setting up and they were offered a lot of Ivor's old stuff as he was shutting down.[3]
