Granny Dryden is an old lady who lives in a cottage in the countryside outside of Greendale.
Biography
She lives alone at Black Beck Farm. Her late father was originally a member of the Greendale Village Band and had experience playing the tuba. She has a son who farms better land on the other side of Pencaster whilst her daughter works as a nurse in London and has a family. Her husband died five years ago and she now lets her land to a neighbouring farmer, Jim Newton. Her daughter's family often comes up to Greendale to see Granny Dryden for her birthday.
She keeps bees and sells honey and home-made jam at the Pencaster market. Pat often brings her pension or a prescription from Dr Pepperell or a dozen eggs from Greendale Farm.
Personality
Despite her age, she is an active and friendly old lady. An old lady with a heart of gold, she is always friendly with most of Greendale's townsfolk. However, she can sometimes be found asleep, suggesting that she either has fatigue or declining sleep quality. As she also takes prescription medicine from Dr. Pepperell, it is implied that she might be in declining health.
Attire
She dresses in the manner of fifty years ago, wearing a dress from a bygone era from when she was young.

Trivia
- She is to date the only female character to be voiced by a male actor after the first series.
- A character also named Granny Dryden briefly appears in an anthology of short stories by John Cunliffe that was published in 1972.[1]
- It is unknown what her first name is, given that the name "Granny" in her name may be a nickname.
- Because of this, she is the one of the few characters whose first names are unknown.
- At the age of 77, Granny Dryden can be considered the oldest character (in terms of age) in the series.
- She is the second character to be a widow in the series, the other being Mrs. Goggins.
- She, along with Peter Fogg and Sam Waldron were on an Infomania fact-checking sheet from the Guardian in a section called "CSI Greendale", a parody of the TV series, CSI. In the sheet, Granny Dryden was described as an "old lady who held up Pat's post round with endless odd jobs".
- She is the only character in the series to have a different skin texture when compared to the others. In this case, she has a wrinkly skin texture, likely to mimic her elderly appearance.
