Trivia[]

  • Similar to PAT 1, for the first seven episodes of Series 1, Greendale Post Office did not use the official Post Office sign, instead using an approximation (yellow background with red writing in a different font). From episode 9 onwards it changed to the official sign (red background with yellow writing and outline).
  • It is based off the old post office located on Beast Bank in Kendal, which closed in 2003.
  • The post office clock would later appear in Mrs. Tupp's kitchen in "Bertha".
  • The Little Poetry Book, the Nursery Rhymes No 1 and the Teddy Bears On a Lark books from series 1 to 2 were not props made for the series. They were actual mini books by Mighty Midget Miniatures that people could buy at the time.
  • In various episodes, the Post Office is full of reused props:
    • One of Sam's catalogues from Postman Pat Has Too Many Parcels.
    • The spinning tops from the "Bertha" episode "The Best Machine Competition".
    • The net from the "Bertha" episode, "The Big Sneeze".
    • A model soldier with a drum from "Gran".
    • A fishing rod, some tins, jars and Trader Jones's shop balance machine from "Charlie Chalk".
    • The chest for the golden ball and cup from the "Noddy's Toyland Adventures" episode "Noddy and the Treasure Map".
  • The post office's model is now owned by the Cosgrove Hall Archive at the Waterside Arts Centre.
  • The cash register prop in the Post Office in the original series is a pencil sharpener styled as a cash register.[1]
    • Due to a new till in the Post Office during the Cosgrove Hall era, the cash register appears in Ted Glen's Mill in the era.[2]
  • In Postman Pat & the Greendale Dragon Live!, the Post Office celebrates its 100th anniversary. As the stage show was performed in 2005, it can be assumed that the Post Office opened in 1905.

Goofs[]

  • The Post Office logo was changed in 1993 (red background with solid yellow writing in all uppercase and green outline) and again in 2007 (red background with solid white writing also in all uppercase), but from Postman Pat and the Tuba to the end of Series 8, it still used the logo from 1975.
