Trivia

  • This special was based on a Postman Pat Beginners book written by John Cunliffe and published by Andre Deutsch in 1986 (which also came with a story audio cassette read by Ken Barrie).
  • This episode marks the final occurence of two things:
    • The last episode in which the church organ version of the Farmer's Song is heard.
    • The final episode in which Ken Barrie voices the children and the majority of the women (excluding Granny Dryden.) Carole Boyd took over these characters from the 1991 specials onwards.
  • This episode includes the first and only appearance of Tom's teacher.
  • The instrumental to the Miss Rebecca Hubbard song and the instrumental to the theme tune can be heard during the number sequences and also in the sequences of Pat stopping at all the house numbers.
  • This episode includes some pieces of music that were never released in Series 1.
  • References to Postman Pat's Thirsty Day, Postman Pat's Difficult Day and Postman Pat and the Magpie Hen are made.
  • This special contains three previously unused pieces of music. The first can be heard at the start of the first Tuesday. The second can be heard before the start of Saturday. The third can be heard before the start of the second Tuesday. It is possible these were originally going to be included in the first series, but why there was no time or place for them to be used, nobody knows.
  • The music that is heard just before the Thursday sequence was previously heard in Postman Pat's Rainy Day and The Sheep In The Clover Field.

Goofs

  • At one point, Tom develops a fourth finger on each of his hand, even though the characters are normally always drawn with only three.
  • For some reason, Tom and Lucy are the only children not wearing their school uniforms.
  • The 10 bottles of homemade wine on the 2nd bit of the 10 pages are empty and have no flavoured names or labels on them. Seven of the bottles don't even have corks on top of them.
  • At the beginning of the church sequence, the bell sound effects are different to the usual ones that are used.
  • Jess does not follow Pat into the classroom even after he has said "Come along, Jess."
  • After Pat says "And another 6 for Tom for learning his numbers," his line "Off we go, Jess," is reused from Postman Pat's ABC.
