Trivia[]
- This episode marks the final official appearance of Sam Waldron. However, in the new series, Sam's van is sometimes seen in various episodes and Sam makes a cameo appearance in Postman Pat and the Green Rabbit.
- This is the only episode where a character says the word "idiot" in an episode. In this case, Ted Glen said it to the robot.
- This is the only episode when Sam Waldron and Peter Fogg have frowns on their faces.
- Some of the sounds that the robot postman makes are the same ones that T.O.M. makes in one of Woodland Animations' other shows,"Bertha".
- Gran's knitting needles and parts of her scarf for her house from the "Gran" episode "Gran Knits" can be seen on a table in the sitting room in the post office.
- The red oil can from "Bertha" is used when Ted oils the robot postman at the Post Office.
- The idea of a robot delivering the post for Pat was later reused in the movie.
- This was the only second season episode of Postman Pat that was not on any episodic VHS releases in Australia; it was featured on ABC for Kids: Mixy Presents More Favourites.
- This is the only episode where Pat has braces on his trousers.
- One of the sound effects the robot postman is making is the same one the suit of armour made in Postman Pat and the Suit of Armour.
- This is the first episode to feature one of Ted’s inventions.
- Ted says "Oh dear. Now, I don't know how that's happened." when the robot postman leaves the Post Office with the post. The audio was reused from Postman Pat has the Best Village. Another line he says in both episodes, "Oi! Look out" is said when Ted first switches on the Robot Postman in the Post Office and when it grabs a basket and crashes into a wall. The line sounds different to how Ted said the line in Postman Pat has the Best Village. Either that line in Postman Pat and the Robot was an alternated take by Ken Barrie saying that line for Postman Pat has the Best Village or redubbed by Ken for the episode.
- This is the only episode where Pat is seen changing gear whilst driving.
Quotes[]
- Mrs. Goggins: "she sees the Robot Postman* "Oh! Gracious me! What's this?" *she grabs her broom and waves it to try and force it out of the shop* "Shoo! One step nearer, and you get this in your sprockets! Get back, you beastie!"
- Ted: "Slowly, does it.. I'll just switch you off..."
- The Robot Postman turned around and gives Ted a letter
- Ted: "Hey, give over! It's not for me, you idiot! Come back!"
- Pat: "Let's take a shortcut across the field. We might be able to cut it off before it gets there."
- Pat drives the post bus across the field
- Ted: "'Ere, don't forget I'm in the back!" *They drive over some bumpy bits in the field* "Ooh, ay up!"
- Pat: "Hang on." *Pat drives as steady as he can while Ted gets bumped around in the back* "Ow, whoa!"
- Ted: "'Ere, steady on!"
